ChainCatcher news, according to Cryptopolitan, the privacy blockchain Monero has released an important upgrade named CLI v0.18.4.3 "Fluorine Fermi" to enhance protection against spy nodes.

In the Monero community, the term "spy nodes" refers to malicious nodes, their affiliated groups, or botnets that can correlate IP addresses with transaction information, effectively undermining the privacy guarantees of the blockchain. The "Fermi" update addresses this issue by implementing an improved node selection algorithm that reduces the likelihood of users connecting to multiple nodes within the same IP subnet, a common strategy used by spy nodes.

It prevents users from connecting to large clusters of suspicious IP addresses, guiding them towards safer nodes. The "Fermi" update also changes the way messages are sent and received, making it extremely difficult for spies to track the delivery path of messages. This helps Monero's messaging service avoid these suspicious delivery agents.
