ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph, the decentralized telecom infrastructure project Helium has announced a partnership with American telecom giant AT&T to integrate its community-built WiFi network into the AT&T service ecosystem. Under the agreement, AT&T users can now access over 93,500 hotspot nodes globally covered by Helium (primarily located in the United States), which are operated by individuals and businesses and maintained through digital asset incentives for network expansion.
Helium Mobile CEO Amir Haleem stated that this collaboration will accelerate the commercialization of decentralized networks, allowing users to achieve automatic authentication access through AT&T's Passpoint WiFi roaming service. Currently, Helium's network has over 800,000 daily active users and has previously established a similar partnership with Mexican telecom company Telefónica, with plans to launch the first free mobile plan in the United States in February 2025.
