ChainCatcher news, according to market reports, Paradigm's Chief Technology Officer Georgios Konstantopoulos revealed that the Ethereum execution layer client Reth encountered a vulnerability at block 2327426, causing interruptions for nodes relying on this client. The affected versions include Reth 1.6.0 and 1.4.8. Paradigm has published instructions for recovering nodes on its GitHub page, but the root cause of the vulnerability is still under investigation.
Reth is an Ethereum execution layer client developed by Paradigm, written in Rust, aimed at improving performance and modularity. Current data shows that Reth accounts for only 5.4% of the total Ethereum execution layer clients, so the impact of this vulnerability is limited. The execution layer client is responsible for processing transactions and state updates, and calculating the state root to ensure the integrity of the global state of the blockchain. This vulnerability may prevent some nodes from validating blocks and synchronizing with the network.
