According to Forbes, 29-year-old Lopes Lara has just become the youngest self-made female billionaire in the world, surpassing 31-year-old Lucy Guo, co-founder of Scale AI, who held the title after taking it from Taylor Swift in April this year.
The report states that Lopes Lara and Kalshi co-founder Mansour both grew up in Lebanon and met at MIT. They belong to the same international student circle, and their elective courses were quite similar, both majoring in computer science. In 2018, they both interned at Five Rings Capital in New York, which brought them closer together. One night, while returning to their internship apartment in the Financial District, they suddenly came up with the idea of starting a prediction market. Thus, Kalshi was born.

Previously, it was reported that Kalshi completed a $1 billion funding round at a valuation of $11 billion. This round was led by Paradigm, with other investors including Sequoia Capital, a16z, and Y Combinator.
