Telegram's encrypted wallet is officially open to 87 million users in the United States

ChainCatcher news, according to CNBC, Telegram's built-in TON wallet has started rolling out to U.S. users this week, allowing its 87 million American users to send and manage cryptocurrency directly within the app. The TON wallet is developed by The Open Platform (TOP) and is built on the TON blockchain, making it the first self-custody crypto wallet embedded in a mainstream messaging platform in the U.S.

Globally, over 100 million users have activated the wallet in 2024, but the U.S. launch was delayed due to regulatory uncertainty. TOP CEO Andrew Rogozov stated that the regulatory environment has changed over the past year, making the U.S. market more attractive.
