Charles Hoskinson is a technology entrepreneur and mathematician based in Colorado. He studied analytic number theory at Metropolitan State University of Denver and University of Colorado Boulder before getting into cryptography through industry exposure. He has founded three cryptocurrency-related start-ups – Invictus Innovations, Ethereum and IOHK – and has held various positions in the public and private sectors. He was the founding chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation's education committee and established the Cryptocurrency Research Group in 2013.Currently, his projects are aimed at educating people about cryptocurrency, being an evangelist for decentralization, and making cryptographic tools more accessible to the mainstream. This includes leading the research, design, and development of Cardano, a third-generation cryptocurrency that was launched in September 2017.
